Ekurhuleni Metro Police Department (EMPD) spokesperson Millicent Kekana said the vehicles were travelling southbound just before the Barry Marais off-ramp when they crashed, lost control and rolled onto the northbound carriageway.<\/p>\n
The seriously injured casualties were taken to Thelle Mogoerwane Hospital; other occupants sustained lesser injuries. Both northbound lanes were affected, with motorists guided onto the shoulder past the scene.<\/p>\n
EMPD's freeway unit and City of Ekurhuleni disaster and emergency management services managed the site.
